Fear Free is a unique program that has a proven record of success in reducing pet fear, anxiety, and stress by understanding when pets are communicating these behaviors. We partner with you to manage and change the behavior of your pet to provide a Fear Free experience for all.
With over 52,000 veterinary and pet professionals committed to becoming Fear Free Certified, Fear Free is one of the largest initiatives to this day.
Fear Free’s mission states, “Our mission is to prevent and alleviate fear, anxiety, and stress in pets by inspiring and educating the people who care for them.”
Developed by “America’s Veterinarian,” Dr. Marty Becker, the Fear Free initiative aims to “take the ‘pet’ out of ‘petrified’” and get pets back for veterinary visits by promoting a considerate approach and gentle control techniques used in calming environments.
Utilization of Fear Free methods and protocols leads to the reduction or removal of anxiety triggers, which creates an experience that is rewarding and safer for all involved, including pets, their owners, and veterinary health care teams. The end result? Calmer, more accepting patients, more compliant clients, and better veterinary care.
Our hospital is proud to be Fear Free Certified. We understand that most pets do not like going to see the vet, and that fear free techniques are extremely useful in being able to get the most out of each visit to the vet.
Fear Free provides online and in-person education to veterinary professionals, the pet professional community, and pet owners. The programs provide professionals and pet lovers with the knowledge and tools to not only look after a pet’s physical wellbeing but her emotional wellbeing, as well. We know we must feed the pet’s mind as well as the body, so we make sure that in-home enrichment and Fear Free training are front-and-center with pet professionals and pet owners alike.
